Masters of Deception
The Masters of Deception were a New York based Hacker crew in the 90's. They controlled all the major telephone RBOC's and X.25 networks as well as large parts of the backbone of the rapidly emerging Internet. Founded by Acid Phreak, along with HAC and Scorpion. They were rivals of another New York based hacker gang, Legion of Doom. Several members of Masters of Deception were actually defunct Legion of Doom members, one in particlar, Phiber Optik. Phiber had a falling out with a high profile member of Legion of Doom, Erik Bloodaxe, which eventually started The Great Hacker War. A book was actually written about Masters of Deception, titled "Masters of Deception - The Gang that Ruled Cyberspace".
