Free Software Foundation
The Free Software Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the free software movement, a movement which aims to promote universal freedom to share and modify source code without restrictions. The Free Software Foundation was started in was started in October, 1985 by Richard Stallman. In 2008, the Free Software Foundation sued cisco for using GPL-licensed components shipped with Linksys.Cisco was notified of the licensing issue in 2003 but Cisco repeatedly disregarded its obligations under the GPL, so the FSF sued them.
